Jim Meacock
/biog
Jim has been composing music for film and television since the mid nineties. His 50 plus credits cover productions for BBC, ITV network, C4, Five, ad agencies, film companies, multimedia and theatre.
He has been nominated twice for an RTS Award and has had a CD and DVD release of his music for the landmark BBC series The Planets.
One of the most versatile composers in the business, Jim’s musical style takes in epic orchestral (The Planets), guitars and small ensemble (Freezing, A Queen’s Kingdom, A Pregnant Coincidence) and dance music (This Week, S Club Seeing Double).
In 2005 Jim scored Lynda La Plante’s ITV1 drama series The Commander. More recent credits include Billy Goat (directed by Euros Lyn) and the mini series Freezing (directed by Simon Curtis), both for the BBC. His other credits include Coming Up for C4, The Virgin Mary for BBC and the S Club film Seeing Double, which was directed by Nigel Dick who is famous for his pop promos including Band Aid, Oasis, Guns ‘n’ Roses and Britney Spears. The movie was released through Columbia TriStar in 2003. Recent credits include a remix of his title music for the popular BBC1 show This Week and the short film Mud Boy.
Before turning professional as a composer, Jim spent five years at the BBC as a cameraman. Not surprisingly his experience there has proved invaluable in writing music to film.
