Bio

One of the sharpest and most prolific British songwriters, Luke Haines has recorded music under various names and with various bands, including The Auteurs, Baader Meinhof and Black Box Recorder.
Luke’s solo works are as idiosyncratic as the man himself and his concept albums have covered themes including Popular Culture,(The Oliver Twist Manifesto), Britain (Off My Rocker At The Art School Bop),
Wrestling (Nine and a Half Psychedelic Meditations on British Wresting of the 1970s and Early '80s). More recently Luke took a trip to an alternate dimension of Walton-On-Thames called Magic Town, where he met Jimmy Pursey – ( a frisky fox) Nick Lowe – (a solid badger) &Gene Vincent (a cat who's seen a bit more of life than most of us) with the 2013 release ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll Animals. His latest album ‘New York In the 1970’s’ is a mythic re-imagining of the New York
Rock n Roll scene 1972 - 1979, taking in nods to Lou Reed, William Burroughs, Alan Vega, Lou Reed, Jim Carroll and the New York Dolls.

There have also been anthologies of Luke’s work including ‘Luke Haines Is Dead’, ‘Outsider/In – The Collection’, ‘21st Century Man’ and ‘Das Capital – The Song Writing Genius of Luke Haines & The Auteurs’

“Where his ideas come from is anybody’s guess, which is precisely what makes the former Auteur so bracing and impossible to categorise” (The Sunday Times)
“Luke Haines is in the middle of a patch so purple that Prince is probably eyeing it up for a waistcoat.” (Digital Spy)
“Haines has consistently defied expectations and set himself apart from virtually everyone else around” (Music OMH)
