Bio

The School are a pop band from Cardiff on Elefant Records. Their debut album 'Loveless Unbeliever' was released in 2010 and produced by Ian Catt (Saint Etienne, The Field Mice).

The album appeared in over 70 'Best of 2010' lists, it was 6Music's Album of the Day, Rough Trade's Album of the Week and Radio Nowhere's Album of the Year. Adam Walton declared it his "favourite Welsh pop album of all time". Molly Ringwald is also a fan.

In 2011 the band were nominated for 'Best International Artist' at the Spanish Independent Music Awards, and performed a live concert on Spanish TV 'Los Conciertos De Radio 3' (TVE).

'Reading Too Much Into Things Like Everything' was released in 2012, produced by David Wrench (Euros Childs, Everything Everything, Alessi's Ark, Bat For Lashes) at Bryn Derwen studios. Dave Rowntree from Blur said he bought it.

Everett True asked "could this be the best pop song of 2012?" and declared ‘Reading Too Much..’ his 2nd favourite album of the year, only behind Dexys.

They have appeared in session for Marc Riley and Tom Robinson on 6Music, Radio 1 Session in Wales, Radio Wales and Q Radio. They've performed at Latitude, Wychwood, Swn, Indietracks, London Popfest, Going Up The Country, Now We Are Weekender and Wales Goes Pop! festivals in the UK, as well as South Pop, Lemon Pop, Murcia Popfest, Contempopranea and Murcia Sound in Spain, and NYC Popfest. They've also toured Sweden, Italy, Spain, the USA and the UK several times.

Limited edition picture disc 7" single 'When I Fall In Love' was released in August 2014 on Where It's At Is Where You Are (WIAIWYA)'s 7777777 singles club (and released digitally through Elefant) with an illustration by Andy Hart.

The band finished recording their 3rd LP at the end of 2014 with Rob Jones (who also made Sweet Baboo's 'Ships' album) at Giant Wafer Studios in Mid Wales.

The first release from the new album was EP 'All I Want From You Is Everything' which came out in April 2015 and included another album track 'I Will See You Soon', along with covers by Knickers and 'Crying In The Rain' by Carole King.

New album 'Wasting Away and Wondering' will come out on Fri 4th September 2015.
